Operations Manager

Job Description

My client is a multinational organisation operating within the mining and construction industry. The Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the company Managing staff across the Sales, HR and Finance departments.

Key Qualifications:

  • CA, ACCA Qualification or Equivalent thereof
  • Engineering Qualification or Experience
  • Female, Mozambican National
  • Mining and Construction Experience Essential
  • Knowledge and experience working with heavy machinery will be advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate in local languages and English

Key Responsibilities (Not limited to):

  • Total Business Function: Human Resources and Finance, Operations, Cost Management, Site Administration
  • Promote and Maintain awareness and Compliance of Health and Safety accordance with best practise and legal requirements
  • Large focus on after sale service, parts and services
  • Strong focus on customer relationships and stakeholder management
  • Candidate must have excellent business acumen
  • Compliance is a challenge within Mozambique so must be able to handle tough situations
  • Internal Stakeholder Communication: frequent communication with support teams to ensure adequate manpower and parts are on site when required, monitoring of site performance, identify potential risk areas and monitor customer satisfaction
  • External Stakeholder Communication: maintain proactive, dynamic, effective communication with the mine management, communication with external suppliers for all goods required for effective running of the site
  • Responsible for managing after sales revenue at agreed margins
  • Contract review with the customers to accommodate changes of plans
  • Capacity planning for manpower, parts supply and components supply to be available to execute planned repairs
  • Execute repairs in a breakdown situation in a timely manner
  • Minimise standing time of key loading and blasting equipment
  • Margin management aligned business plan projections
  • Responsible for strategic decision making on site to meet customer needs and remain aligned to the company strategic direction and profitability
  • Procurement
  • Liaise with Top Management from a strategic input aspect
  • Understand competitor strategy and counter with appropriate action
  • Project Management and Execution
  • Leadership and Management of a diverse work force with limited skills and product knowledge or experience within multiple disciplines
  • Implementation of on the job training to ensure staff retention and skills levels reach optimal requirements
